Policy on Conflict Minerals

Non-use of conflict minerals that are sources of funds for armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or neighboring countries

Conflict minerals (tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold) produced in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or neighboring countries can be a source of funding for armed groups that perpetrate serious human rights violations in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

In the U.S., the Dodd-Frank Act*1 was enacted in July 2010 as a financial reform law aimed at cutting off the supply of funds to these armed groups. The azbil Group concurs with the aims of the Dodd-Frank Act, which is in agreement with the “Social conduct characterized by respect for people” espoused in the azbil Group Basic Guidelines on Procurement. We are working to eliminate from our supply chain any conflict minerals produced in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or neighboring countries that are a source of funds for armed groups. We also ask that our business partners understand these Basic Guidelines and cooperate with our efforts to eliminate from the azbil Group supply chain any conflict minerals produced in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or neighboring countries that are a source of funds for armed groups.

*1 Formally known as the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act
