Chinese overseas affiliate of the azbil Group recognized as a “High-New Technology Enterprise” by the State Science and Technology Commission of China

TOKYO, May 27, 2010 — Shanghai Azbil Automation Co., Ltd. (SACN), an overseas affiliate of Yamatake Corporation of the azbil Group, has been recognized as a “High-New Technology Enterprise” by the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China.
Companies may apply for the designation of “High-New Technology Enterprise” if they qualify as a “resident enterprise” (see note below) in one of the high-tech fields given priority support by the Chinese government. They must also be engaged in sustained R&D activities, the application of the results of such technological development, and the generation of innovative and independent intellectual property rights for the company; furthermore, management of the company must be predicated on the above activities. Successful applications, which have passed rigorous technical reviews by specialists from the same industry, are rewarded with official certification. Once thus recognized, the company will be perceived within Chinese markets not only as an enterprise possessing advanced technologies, but also as a company with which others may confidently engage in business.
Since its establishment in 1995, SACN has built up an excellent track record, consistently meeting the needs of its customers with the supply of distributed control systems, field instruments, etc. The company has many fine achievements to its name, including initiatives aimed at enhancing in-house productivity as well as the development of applications for use by its customers. In recognition of the high level of its technologies and its expertise, in 2004 the company was certified by the Shanghai Municipal Government (Shanghai Foreign Investment Committee, Shanghai Foreign Economic and Trade Committee) as a “Foreign Investment Advanced Technology Enterprise”, and now it has been further recognized as a “High-New Technology Enterprise” by the State Science and Technology Commission of China.
Expressing his delight at SACN’s new certification as a “High-New Technology Enterprise” Michihiro Tomonaga, SACN General Manager, said that “This has indeed enhanced SACN’s image as a company with advanced technologies.
