OVERVIEW
Harmonas-DEO™, which was based on Azbil Corporation’s field-proven DCS technology, and which was an early adopter of the open and standard technologies that are now widespread globally, functions as a control platform that provides various applications ranging from the field to production control. Harmonas-DEO has kept its fundamental DCS functions and reliability, but now has enhanced field network integration capability and application software interaction capability by adopting DCOM/Active-X and OPC for the data interface with management software. Harmonas-DEO realizes information fusion between information management system and production control system which is essential to establish IT based system. Information conveyed in real time from the field to the business management system allows rapid decisions in important management area.
FEATURES
Harmonas-DEO, which has actively adopted the latest open technologies in order to establish connections between business management, production control, and production equipment systems. For the monitoring operation environment, a general-purpose workstation based on Windows is used. Azbil Corporation’s DCS controllers and third party general-purpose PLCs are used as control devices. Ethernet is used for the Control Network.
Redundant Platform
Harmonas-DEO can have operation monitoring nodes, history databases, control networks, control devices, input/output modules, and other such components all be in a redundant (duplex) configuration. This redundant scheme not only aims to maintain system reliability at a plant where a long period of operation is premised, but also possesses a high-level of maintainability that allows system structural parts to be replaced, added, and modified without interrupting plant operation.

In many cases, your production equipment is made up of control systems (such as DCS) and control devices(such as PLC and controllers) from various vendors. By integrating this device data and information onto the control network, Harmonas-DEO can offer an environment where the operation monitoring environment, production information, equipment error information, and other factors can be centrally monitored and managed.
HART & Fieldbus Solutions
HART communication and FOUNADTION Fieldbus, standards in the process industry, are integrated into the Harmonas-DEO system using the HART I/O module for DOPC III and the DOFC Fieldbus Controller. InnovativeField Organaizer manages databases and information from digital field devices in compliance with FOUNADTION Fieldbus and the HART protocol, and supports instrumentation and maintenance work.
General-purpose Relational Database Historian
History data such as alarm data, trend data, and forms data are stored in the general-purpose database (typically Microsoft SQL Server). Performance is fully demonstrated in situations where record data is easily consolidated and viewed by utilizing historical data search functions and spreadsheet software such as Excel.
Scalable System
The systems range from small-scale systems with less than 500 inputs/outputs to large-scale systems with up to 100,000 inputs/outputs provided by a single platform, maintaining stable system performance even in such situations. It is entirely possible to transform your system into a large-scale one in the event that you expand and/or merge your facilities in future.

“OperationAnywhere™” is the new plant operation concept developed by Azbil Corporation, which allows for comfortable plant operation that provides excellent convenience and safety. Not by traditional central operations or monitoring that takes place in an instrumentation room, but by achieving an operational environment equivalent to that of an instrumentation room, under all kinds of environments surrounding the plant such as offices, other paperwork sites, and hostile environments. By adopting a real-time Web server, Harmonas-DEO is strongly pushing ahead with the world’s first type of plant operation achieved by OperationAnywhere.
Engineering Environment
A powerful visual development environment (RTC) is used for engineering work on Harmonas-DEO, thereby achieving a control design environment where combinations of function-block-format parts enable an advanced control loop with PID, or instruments that are combined intricately. The RTC supports engineering groupwork that via an in-house LAN. The created control parts can be registered as reusable parts and also can be freely referred to and reused within the group. Troublesome document creation and document control processes are also comprehensively addressed by the RTC, improving engineering efficiency.
