Number of visitors to the Yamatake Memorial

A facility to introduce the history of the azbil Group

Founded as Yamatake Shokai in 1906, Azbil Corporation has led the automation field in Japan, helping to solve problems in large buildings, factories, and plants. Its name was changed in April 2012. To commemorate this occasion, the Yamatake Memorial was established within the Fujisawa Technology Center in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture. This facility aims to pass on Yamatake's more than 100-year history of automation to future generations.

Inside the facility, visitors can follow the footsteps of the founder Takehiko Yamaguchi, as well as be introduced to past products and initiatives. There were 647 visitors in fiscal year 2024 (April 2024 to March 2025), and we welcomed a wide range of visitors, including customers, partners, investors, students, and the azbil Group employees and alumni. This increase in visitors demonstrates the role that the Yamatake Memorial plays as a place to share azbil Group's history and achievements with society.

Alongside the actual display of azbil Group’s groundbreaking products, exhibit panels also provide an easy-to-understand explanation of the group’s history.

Inheriting the wisdom of our ancestors and moving toward the future

The Yamatake Memorial has five exhibition rooms. The first exhibition room introduces Takehiko Yamaguchi and conveys his efforts to modernize Japan's industry. The next exhibition room presents products symbolizing each era, paired with explanatory panels. This includes pre-war industrial instruments, analog panel instruments that supported the period of high economic growth, and the pioneering TDCS™ 3000 plant monitoring and control system and SAVIC™ air conditioning control system of the digital age. Through these exhibits, visitors can trace azbil Group's history, which has developed from its philosophy of "freeing people from drudgery," "Savemation™," and "human-centered automation," within the historical context of industrial and building automation.

In addition, the 2023 renovations of the Yamatake Memorial were informed by azbil Group's philosophy of "human-centered automation," refreshing the exhibits to focus more on "people." From stories and photographs conveying the personality of founder Takehiko Yamaguchi to introducing the company’s successive presidents who responded to the changing times and led the company through change from Yamatake to Azbil, the facility allows visitors to experience azbil Group’s history—not only through its products and technologies, but also through the journeys of the people behind them.

"Visiting the old, learning the new."—The Yamatake Memorial will continue to enhance its exhibits to remain a place where visitors can experience the wisdom and bold vision of our predecessors to deepen their understanding of azbil Group's philosophy and activities.
