Azbil Launches the New 6000 Series of Control Valves
Featuring IEC 60534 Conformity and Designed to Enhance Productivity Throughout the Plant Lifecycle

TOKYO, Oct. 1, 2025: Azbil Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange Code: 6845) announces that from October 1, 2025, it will begin sales of the 6000 Series of control valves. Conforming to the IEC 60534*1 international standard, the 6000 Series represents a core product for the petroleum refining, petrochemical, chemical and related industrial markets. With an optimal design based on CFD analysis*2, it significantly enhances control performance while contributing to overall productivity improvements throughout a plant’s lifecycle. This is achieved not only through improved control accuracy, but also by reducing equipment costs, reducing install space requirements, reducing spare parts stocks and enhanced maintainability.

6000 Series control valve

A control valve is an essential piece of equipment for fluid flow control in production processes. Especially high control performance and long-term stability are demanded of the control valves used for process automation in the petroleum, petrochemical and related industries. In addition, it is required that they conform to international standards to ensure competitiveness in global markets. Moreover, because of the impact on production sites of work-style reforms and structural changes in the working population, customers today increasingly expect control valves and other production equipment to contribute to improving productivity throughout a plant’s lifecycle. It was in response to these market needs that the 6000 Series was developed.

Main features

  • Using high-precision simulations employing CFD analysis, we designed the internal structure to optimize valve performance. As a result, the representative index for valve performance, the rated Cv value*3 was improved by 129% compared to our single-seat valves and by 125% compared to our cage valves. Additionally, the actual performance of valve prototypes was evaluated using specialized flow-test equipment, which conforms with international standards, at Azbil Kyoto Co., Ltd., a member of the azbil Group. This process has resulted in significantly enhanced reliability with improved accuracy and reproducibility of measurement results. Furthermore, the 6000 Series contributes to reducing energy losses by facilitating precise valve selection.

  • The valve height has been reduced by as much as 40% while still offering flow characteristics that is either equivalent to or better than previous models. And because a single 6000 Series unit enables stable control of a wide range of flow rates, equipment costs and required space can be reduced. Despite its compact dimensions, the 6000 Series delivers excellent shutoff performance*4; this makes possible significant improvements in operational efficiency, including reduced air consumption and greater convenience for on-sitework.

  • The design of the 6000 Series places emphasis on maintainability. For example, it makes use of common components for a couple of sizes and the structure that requires no special tools for maintain. As a result, maintenance work can be carried out more efficiently and parts management has been simplified, thus helping to reduce the workload for customers and reducing operating costs over the long term.
  • As the next-generation standard platform for Azbil’s process automation control valves, the 6000 Series is highly proficient. It will also continue to evolve, leveraging azbil’s long-standing expertise in valve design to meet the needs of a wide variety of industries, while pursuing market expansion. Furthermore, in the management strategy for medium-term plan formulated in May 2025, Azbil has set forth the goal of “Create New Automation” as a growth strategy for its Advanced Automation business. As part of this strategy, Azbil plans to integrate technologies related to control valves (CV)—including control valves, valve positioners, maintenance services, and valve diagnostic services—into a comprehensive offering called the “CV Total Solution.” By doing so, the company aims to provide added value through the synergistic effects of these elements, thereby contributing to improved operational efficiency for customers' plants. The newly launched 6000 Series serves as a significant product within the "CV Total Solution."

Guided by the azbil Group philosophy of “human-centered automation,” we strive to supply products and services that contribute to solving the issues facing society as well as benefiting the global environment, with the aim of making contributions that lead “in series” to a sustainable society and to achieving sustainable growth.

*1 IEC 60534: A multi-part international standard published by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) that covers the design, performance, testing, noise, and dimensions of control valves for industrial processes.
*2 CFD analysis: The application of computational fluid dynamics to perform analyses of the flow of fluids (liquids and gases) using computer simulations.
*3 Rated Cv value: A performance indicator that shows how much fluid a valve can pass through. The larger the Cv value, the easier it is for fluid to flow, resulting in lower pressure loss and reduced energy loss.
*4 Shutoff performance: An indicator of how effectively a valve shuts off fluid when it is in the closed position; excellent shut-off performance means the valve prevents fluid leakage.
