Azbil Kyoto Forest Designated as a “Nationally Certified Sustainably Managed Natural Site” by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment

TOKYO, October 8, 2025: Azbil Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange Code: 6845) announced on September 16, 2025, that its “Azbil Kyoto Forest”—located on company land in Kyotanba, a town in Kyoto Prefecture—has been designated as a “Nationally Certified Sustainably Managed Natural Site” by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. This certification recognizes the azbil Group’s environmental conservation activities, which aim to realize a sustainable society.

Nationally Certified Sustainably Managed Natural Sites are areas certified by the Ministry of the Environment as places where biodiversity conservation work is being carried out as part of private sector and local community initiatives. These sites play a crucial role in contributing to the achievement of the 30by30*1 target adopted at the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

Located in the Tamba Highlands, the Azbil Kyoto Forest is a wooded area of approximately 3 hectares (7.4 acres). Vegetation surveys were started here in 2011, and from 2013 azbil Group employees and their families have continuously engaged in observing the natural environment, undertaking tree surveys, and performing woodland management tasks such as tree planting and thinning. These activities have contributed to biodiversity conservation, maintaining a buffer function for nearby nature conservation areas, and promoting environmental education for our employees. This certification of Azbil Kyoto Forest recognizes what has been achieved.

Environmental conservation activities

As with the Azbil Kyoto Forest, we actively promote activities aimed at the conservation of the natural environment in the vicinity of azbil Group sites—such as at Fujisawa, a city in Kanagawa Prefecture, and Minamiaizu, a town in Fukushima Prefecture—in collaboration with NPOs, universities, and local governments.

Guided by the azbil Group’s philosophy of “human-centered automation,” we will continue to promote various environmental conservation activities, with the aim of making contributions that lead “in series” to a sustainable society.
