Based on its corporate philosophy, the azbil Group is actively working toward the realization of a sustainable society and the preservation of the global environment through its business activities. In addition, we are promoting various initiatives based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In our supply chain, we are working together with our business partners to fulfill our social responsibilities. As specific guidelines, we have establishment and published the “Basic Purchasing Policy,” which outlines the azbil Group’s fundamental approach, and the “the azbil Group Sustainable Procurement Guidelines.”
We ask our business partners to understand the purpose of these initiatives and to promote activities in accordance with these policies and guidelines.

We publish the “Sustainable Procurement Annual Report,” which summarizes the azbil Group's initiatives for the year, and we invite you to take a look.

azbil Group Basic Procurement Policy

Through “human-centered automation”, the azbil Group brings “safety, comfort, and fulfillment” to people and helps to preserve the global environment. Based on the “azbil Group philosophy”, the “Guiding Principles for azbil Group Business”, and the “azbil Group Code of Conduct”, we work proactively to achieve a sustainable society and protect the global environment. We maintain high ethical standards, understand, and comply with the laws in Japan and abroad and implement procurement-related activities fairly and equitably, taking into consideration human rights and the environment. Together with our business partners, we take into consideration our corporate social responsibility (CSR) when engaging in procurement activities throughout the supply chain. We consider working on these activities to be one of our most important management issues. We aim to build long-term trust relationships with our business partners, cooperate with them to achieve mutual prosperity, and contribute to the local community and society.

1. Public nature of the company and fulfillment of our social responsibility
   We disclose timely, appropriate, and accurate information to our business partners, and act so to earn their trust by our openness. We receive the opinions of our business partners with sincerity, foster good communications with them, and act to fulfill our social responsibilities together with them.
2. Observance of fairness in commercial transactions
   When dealing with our business partners inside and outside Japan, we observe international rules and laws and do not engage in unfair actions such as abusing a dominant position over a business partner. When selecting a business partner and deciding whether to continue a business relation, we compare and evaluate companies in a fair and equitable manner, consider their legal compliance, management foundations, quality, price, stability of supply, technological development, and make efforts to achieve a sustainable society.
3. Respect for human rights
   In our procurement activities, we stand together with our business partners in opposing behaviors that violate human rights, such as child labor, human trafficking, forced labor, and overwork and strive to eliminate discrimination based on race, gender, religion, etc. We seek to eradicate inhuman acts such as harassment and respect human rights.
4. Protection of the environment
   In our procurement activities we, together with our business partners, obey the laws and regulations related to environmental protection and continuously seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve energy, conserve resources, conserve water, manage chemical substances contained in products, and promote environmentally conscious design for the environment. By doing so, we strive to respond to climate change, use resources in a cyclical manner, conserve biodiversity, and contribute to the global environment.

azbil Group Sustainable Procurement Guidelines

Request for action in line with the azbil Group Sustainable Procurement Guidelines for business partners

The azbil Group procurement activities are based on building long-term relationships of trust with business partners and aiming to increase the added value for both the azbil Group and business partners. Furthermore, we have taken the requests from society, including the SDGs, seriously and have strengthened our efforts toward realizing a sustainable society in the supply chain to more proactively fulfill our social responsibilities.

As part of our efforts in the supply chain, we established the “CSR Procurement Guidelines” in fiscal 2021, which outline the matters to be addressed from social and environmental perspectives. Since then, with the great cooperation of our business partners, we have been working together to promote efforts toward realizing a sustainable society.
On the other hand, social conditions and requests from society are continuously changing, and we need to respond to them appropriately. Therefore, in fiscal 2024, we reviewed the items to be addressed and the required standards, including business integrity and BCP (business continuity plan), in light of domestic and international trends. We have compiled its contents, renamed the “CSR Procurement Guidelines” to the “the azbil Group Sustainable Procurement Guidelines,” and published the revised version.

These guidelines summarize the direction of a wide range of activities regarding sustainability in the supply chain and the matters to be complied with, based on the basic principles set forth in the azbil Group’s corporate philosophy and corporate guiding principles.

The azbil Group will continue to work with our business partners toward realizing a sustainable society. We ask for your continued understanding and cooperation.

ESG Program for Business Partners

The azbil Group identifies and assesses potential ESG risks among its business partners with the aim of implementing the “azbil Group Basic Procurement Policy” and ensuring sustainability throughout the supply chain. If risks are identified, we work with our business partners to plan and implement corrective measures.
We refer to this initiative as the “ESG Program for Business Partners.”
